Soft Shells_Commentary

I’m learning to layer my clothing system better - but it’s not easy figuring out what works with what so that you don’t find yourself with 6 layers and elbows that don’t bend when it’s a wee bit cold out.

Build a layer of waterproof and windproof, then supplement with resistant catagories, like wind resistant, breathability, etc. I picked up a Spyder soft shell for my wind resistant for the non wet and windy days. I get complements on it - even when I wear it just around town.

For me, it’s hard to find women’s clothing that’s cut broad enough in the shoulders or long enough in the sleeves… Spyder’s figured it out and my softshell fit’s like it was custom made.

Over the top of my softshell, I throw on my Mountain Hardware jacket for the waterproof/windproof feature and with my base layers I’m good to go. I’m saving my pennies to get some of the new gear that I keep reading about - the Skins for men and women. Because I play hard…I think the notion that my base layer will enhance my performance is worthy of a shot. I’m going for them - so should you.

Vstil~
