So I just had to do it - I had to test out a pair of the big fat skis I’ve been seeing on the slope. My curiosity got the best of me so I took out a pair of Volkl Gotamas and gave them a test.
I have to tell you I didn’t know what to expect. I took them to HooDoo to play on the groomed runs since we’ve not had any snow to speak of. I was interested to feel how they performed with 105 under the foot…
What I found was that they literally floated on the surface of the groomed run with very little effort. I was amazed how well they performed since I was expecting some challenges turning and simply muscling them around.
I didn’t get a chance at powder- that would be the real reason I would jump on a pair - (I would be hard pressed to give up my Volkl AC30s). With the little time I spent on them, I can see that they would be like riding on marshmallows should we see some big pow.
One of the other features I liked about the Gotamas are the graphics… they’re good looking. If I were to want good looking big powder skis… I would seriously look at the Gotamas.
Vstil~
