Wow… at least a little new snow - woo hoo! It sure helps those of us looking to grab an edge on the ice that lately seems to be so prevalent. Mind you I’m not complaining - getting out on the mountains for some fun is far better than not getting out on the mountains at all. Just don’t pay attention to me as I do the snow dance every day to the Nordic snow diety, Ullar, as I pray for more new snow.
To elaborate our fun on the trip to Bachelor - I took pictures. I’m so in awe of the ice sculptures that are forming on Bachelor this year - I’ve never seen anything like it. Each weekend they’re different and … bigger. Do keep in mind that many of these sculptures are 18″ thick walls of ice and weigh hundreds of pounds.
To get the trip started, even in the morning, we were all smiles.
On the way up the hill for fun:

Visibility was not the best - we skied by brail and for technique.

On the way through the clouds to the summit, the Sisters Peak Through the Fog:

At the Summit I’ve been keeping an eye on a 12 foot deep ice bowl as it forms…

We found a Frozen Swamp Monster on the way down from Northwest:

A Frozen Swamp Monster Home has 18″ thick walls:

Or it’s his Ice Schnauzer’s home:

It was a battle, but I brought back Snowman Teeth:

Then I stumbled upon the Frozen Bear riding the Yeti…

It was a great time, had by all and at the end of the day…. we’re ready to load and head for home.
