Wow! What a weekend.. 3 days of skiing and 3 days of extreme conditions. The weather was simply beautiful - sunny yet icy all three days. No new snow made for left over ice conditions from the ice storms that challenged even the best of skiers and boarders.
The smart ones, followed the sun which made enough corn snow with which one could get an edge. The adventuresome explored the ice fields in ways that most would call crazy. One slip and it was a loooong slide down with looooong bruises to match.
The ice coatings were stunning to see; at times it looked as if there were standing pools of water but was instead a metallic looking ice glazing that covered everything. Beautiful but dangerous.
I saw one boy chasing a snowboard for quite a ways downhill from mid mountain. From what I understand, he ventured into the middle of an ice field, decided to disconnect from his board and hike to a groomer but he dropped his board and physics took over - can you say, “bye-bye board?” He learned how. Boy and board were eventually reunited - at the bottom,.
