Second Bus to Willamette Pass

Ok, so I took the second bus to WP - on Sunday.  Saturday the first bus went up the hill without a chaperon…(he worked all night, got up at 4:30, got dressed, sat on his sofa and…you got it - fell asleep) So, the bus still went and… people still went skiing and the bus driver filled in!  That’s what I call teamwork to cover the bases.

I hear the snow on Sat was great - a bit dry but pow to the knees in places.  I took the bus up on Sunday and  skied my buns off!  First part of the day was wet - sleetish but knowing how good it was for the base, I coped.  By 11 am I was soaked to the bone and cold.  My new pants weren’t completely waterproof as I had suspected.  Luckily I had my trusty Archteryx in my bag with another set of thermals and after lunch I was good to go.  Plus by then it had started to snow and the ‘wet’ was gone but the wind picked up.

Oh, well, this was better than sitting behind a desk so I was good to go.  I would just ride to the top of the front side since they didn’t have the back side open yet, and turn my back to the wind until I got a break and… went for it.

It was interesting tho - the wetness made the snow in the morning very unforgiving but by the afternoon, things were sweet… Timber, Charlie, and Eagle were all good.  Maybe it was my imagination but I believe my form was holding its own due to the practice I had the day before on Bachelor…In my head I was doing well… I think that translated to my skis…lol

Oh, I’d like to give a huge shout out to the two guys that stopped to give boarding lessons to a struggling kid who was all but giving up on ever boarding again.  Because of these guys and their tutoring.. the kid was able to board down the mountain and was ready to come back for more… you guys are awesome!

Once again I was back at the bus at 3:45, worn out yet totally elated that I got to ski again.  We left the mountain right on time because the riders rock… everyone seems to know the drill and gets back  And we had a great driver - Sarah!  Yup you read it hear..girl power all the way.  We slapped a set of chains on that bus as fast as anyone and she rolled us right back home as quickly as she got us to the mountain in the morning.  We want Sarah to drive again.

Here’s to the Berg’s Bus system… it really works well.  For me personally, This is my 5th season and I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to make friends with people that just keep coming back for more… we must be doing something right… thanks guys… I look forward to seeing you again.
Vstil~
