Women’s Night event with Jean Thoren

I wanted to let folks know about the Women’s Night event with Jean Thoren at the shop.

Wow! For starters, all I can say is Wow! You know every time I attend an event through Berg’s I walk away with more knowledge than I came in with. This time it centered around the women’s night with guest speaker and skier extraordinaire, Jeannie Thoren.

I had the neat opportunity to listen to Jeannie Thoren as she explained something I had suspected all along… men and women are different. No fooling! Jeannie has become a beacon for me not because she confirmed my innate senses that women are not small men but because she took it a step further with the “Thoren Theory”.

Jeannie Thoren has spent the last 30 years researching the way women ski and has tagged her work appropriately – the Thoren Theory. As a newbie to Jeannie’s thoughts, I listened slack-jawed about her research and what she did with it. I was a confirmed supporter of her work after the first half=hour passed, feeling ingratiated that someone took the time to “break it down” for women. I’m not speaking in a psychological term but rather from a physiological point of view.

Jeannie spoke to a full house – women just like me were eagerly eating up her words as she spoke about the way women are physically built comparative to men and how those differences manifest in skiing. Jeannie says that one of a female skier’s biggest challenge can be her ski equipment because often it’s built for men. And as we agreed before, men and women are different so, as Jeannie filled our focused ears of how we as women can have the same fabulous experience as men simply by being aware of how our ski equipment works, I along with a room full of women celebrated our recognition.

I am grateful for the Jeannie Thorens of the world. I am especially grateful to Berg’s and those who bring together people to support and speak towards a better experience for women – no matter what they do.

Rumor has it that Jeannie Thoren will be holding a workshop or two on the slopes this winter. It will be a first come, first serve, and limited space sign-up, so tap into Berg’s for the details.

Vstil~

Fun pics from this last year with Jeannie Thoren :-)
